Latest Updates on TEC Certification in India
On November 17, 2020, India's TEC issued two new notifications regarding mandatory testing and certification (MTCTE) for electronic communication products. The contents include extending the acceptance of test reports from ILAC laboratories, and TEC-designated or NABL-recognized laboratories should upload summary reports of tests on the MTCTE website. The specific details are as follows:
1. Extend the acceptance of test reports from the ILAC laboratory
On November 17, 2020, India's TEC officially issued a notice, making partial amendments to the Office Memorandum No. TEC/01/2017-TC dated June 2017. It decided to extend the deadline for accepting ILAC laboratory test results/reports (for radio, wired/optical interface tests) until June 30, 2021.

This notice applies to the mandatory testing and certification (MTCTE) phases 1 and 2 for TEC electronic communication products, as well as all products to be announced in the future. It should be noted that TEC accepts laboratory test reports from ILAC only for the test results/reports of technical requirements, that is, all basic requirements except for safety requirements and EMC requirements. ECMG reminds you that it is best to complete the certification by June 2021 to avoid the need to go to India for related technical parameter tests afterwards. This means that the relevant tests must be completed by May 2021 to ensure that the test report can be submitted by June 2021 and obtain TEC certification.
II. The testing laboratory should upload the summary of the test results.
In another notice released at the same time, TEC proposed a new regulation: All TEC-designated CAB or NABL-certified testing laboratories participating in the General Certification Scheme (GCS) should upload "summary of test reports and detailed test reports" on the MTCTE website according to the form in the attached document. This will facilitate the timely evaluation of test results and the smooth completion of MTCTE.
