Update of Mexican regulations

2019-12-06

On October 5, 2015, the Federal Communications Commission of Mexico announced on its official website that the draft IFT-008-2015 had been approved. Meanwhile, the original NOM-121 had become invalid on October 19, 2015 and was replaced by IFT008. This change will not affect the currently valid certifications, unless the random auditing agency requires re-testing and re-accreditation based on the new standards.

IFT-008 (NOM-121) is applicable to frequency ranges of 902 - 928 MHz, 2400 - 2483.5 MHz, and 5725 - 5850 MHz for frequency hopping, digital modulation and wireless communication devices.

Before October 19, 2015, the certification process for NOM-121 was as follows:

1. Sample testing, and the report should be submitted to NYCE. Then, NYCE will issue the PEC certificate, which is the PEC NOM-121 certificate.

2. The institution submits the PEC certificate to IFETEL, and IFETEL issues the IFETEL (IFT) NOM-121 certificate.

Before October 19th, the certification process for NOM-121 remains largely unchanged, but the name has been modified as follows:

1. Sample testing, and the report should be submitted to NYCE. Then NYCE will issue the PEC certificate, and the name of this certificate will be changed to NOM-EM-016.

2. The institution submits the PEC NOM-EM-016 certificate to IFETEL, and IFETEL issues the IFETEL (IFT) IFT-008 certificate.
