Regarding [NOM Certification of Mexico]

2023-11-01

The NOM certificate is one of the necessary conditions for entering the Mexican market. Currently, the process of obtaining the NOM certification involves conducting tests locally in Mexico. Regarding the update of the NOM 019 standard, it is still in the formulation stage and is expected to be released as early as the beginning of 2024.

The light bulbs in Mexico must comply with the safety regulations of NOM-003-SCFI and the energy efficiency regulations of NOM-030-ENER. Therefore, the labels must meet the label requirements of NOM-003-SCFI, NOM NYCE, and NOM-030-ENER. If the product is a lamp, then only the label requirements of NOM-003 and NOM NYCE need to be met.

Regarding the power socket adapter, we can only assess the specific testing standards after providing the product specification sheet and product images. For example, if the power socket adapter comes with an extension cord, it needs to comply with NOM-003 (MNX-J-508); if it is a power socket without a cord (classified as a socket), it needs to comply with NOM-003 (NMX-J-412/2-2-ANCE-2008). In summary, regardless of the situation, it is necessary to meet the requirements of the NOM-003 standard.

The current electric vehicle chargers in use would also require testing and certification if they are to be approved in Mexico.
