Arc Welding Machine Certification

For arc welding machines to be exported to the European Union, they must obtain CE certification. This is a mandatory compliance requirement for products to enter the EU market and is also a necessary document for smooth customs clearance and sales.

CE certification process

1. Submit materials: Provide product schematic diagrams, operation manuals, product nameplates, lists of key components, etc.

2. Business Confirmation: Issue a formal quotation and sign the cooperation agreement

3. Sample testing: Send the samples to the laboratory and conduct product tests in accordance with the standards.

4. Report Preparation: The certification engineer will prepare the test report based on the qualified test data in a standardized manner.

5. Submission for review: The engineer will review the complete report.

6. Issue certificate: After thorough review, issue the CE certification certificate.

The main test contents for the CE certification of arc welding machines include:

Electrical safety test, electromagnetic compatibility test, mechanical structure safety test

The three major directives of CE

Reference standard

LVD - Low Voltage Directive

EN IEC 60974-1

EMC Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive

EN IEC 60974-10、 EN IEC 61000-3-2、 EN IEC 61000-3-3

MD Mechanical Instruction

EN IEC 62061、EN 60204-1

1. Electrical safety testing

Objective: To ensure that the equipment will not pose any safety risks such as electric shock or fire to the operators during use.

Test items: Pressure resistance test, insulation resistance test, grounding continuity test, temperature rise test, electrical clearance and creepage distance test.

2. Electromagnetic Compatibility Testing

Objective: To ensure that the equipment does not generate excessive electromagnetic interference and can withstand a certain level of electromagnetic interference.

Reference standards: EN60974-10 (Arc welding equipment Part 10: Electromagnetic compatibility requirements), EN61000-3-2: Limits - Harmonic current emission limits (each phase input current of the equipment ≤ 16A) and EN61000-3-3: Limits - Voltage variations, voltage fluctuations and flicker in public low-voltage power supply systems, applicable to equipment with each phase rated current ≤ 16 amperes and without any connection conditions restrictions.

Test contents: Radiation emission, conduction emission, radiation anti-interference capability, conduction anti-interference capability, etc.

3. Mechanical structure safety test

Objective: To ensure the mechanical structure of the equipment is stable and that the moving parts are properly protected, to prevent operators from coming into contact with dangerous areas during operation. This includes verifying the structural safety and protection reliability of the equipment under operating, debugging, and maintenance conditions.

Test contents: stability test, impact test, durability test, etc.
