In order to alleviate the burden on enterprises in complying with the UKCA marking regulations, and to address the potential increase in the demand for conformity assessment services by conformity assessment bodies (CAB) at the end of the year, on June 20, 2022, the British government announced the following updated regulations:

The qualified assessment documents for CE marking completed before December 31, 2022, can directly serve as the basis for the UKCA marking and do not require re-testing. The validity period of this regulation lasts until the expiration of the CE-RED type approval certificate or until December 31, 2027, whichever comes earlier.

For the existing inventory products that have already been imported to the UK market, there is no need to conduct re-testing or re-apply the UKCA marking.

For the import of spare parts for repairing, replacing or maintaining products or systems already available in the British market, the regulations applicable when the products or systems were originally imported into the British market can still be followed.

Before December 31, 2025, enterprises will continue to be allowed to choose to affix the UKCA mark on the nameplate of the product or on the accompanying documents. Starting from January 1, 2026, the marking can only be done on the nameplate of the product itself.

For products imported from the EEA (European Economic Area), the importer's information can still be marked on the accompanying documents of the products until December 31, 2025. Starting from January 1, 2026, the marking can only be done on the product itself. Unless the product size is too small or the shape is special and not allowed, the marking can still be done on the accompanying documents.

For products imported into the UK from regions outside the EEA, the original regulations still apply. Starting from January 1, 2023, the importer information of these products needs to be marked on the label of the product itself. Unless it is impossible to do so due to the product's size being too small or its shape being particularly special, the information can be marked on the accompanying documents instead.

The above-mentioned adjustments do not apply to medical equipment, construction products, transportable pressure equipment, ropeways, unmanned aircraft systems, railway products and marine equipment. The relevant authorities are making specific arrangements for these special industries. The updated changes to import labels and inspections will be announced by the end of this year.

关于UKCA标识

The UKCA mark is a mandatory product identifier specifically for the market of Great Britain. It is used for certain goods to be placed on the market in Great Britain after the Brexit transition period, including those currently subject to the EU CE mark, such as personal protective equipment, medical devices, etc.

The British government has made preparations to introduce the UKCA identification system in the UK, in order to replace the new conformity marking that the British government will introduce in the market.

The relevant British regulations have been revised, requiring that from January 1, 2021, any authorized representative designated for UKCA must reside in the UK and replace the role of the Notified Body with the British Approved Body. The aim is to minimize the technical impact on manufacturers as much as possible.
